Bike rental in Srinagar
Nomad rents bikes in Srinagar from Lake City Plaza, Karan Nagar, from ₹900 a day. Collection is free, and we deliver to hotels across the city and to Dal Lake houseboats for a small fee. Scooters, Royal Enfield Classic and Himalayan motorcycles, and no-licence electric bikes are all available.
Where to find us
We are at Lake City Plaza in Karan Nagar, a few minutes from Lal Chowk and on the way out of the city towards the Gulmarg and Sonmarg roads. There is parking outside and the hire desk is on the ground floor.
If you are staying on a houseboat, we will bring the bike to the nearest ghat rather than making you cross the lake with your luggage. Tell us the ghat name when you book.
Riding in Srinagar
City traffic is dense around Lal Chowk and the old city, and the Boulevard fills up in the evenings. A scooter is far less stressful than a motorcycle for this, and easier to park.
Helmets are legally required and enforced. Carry your licence and photo ID — checkpoints are routine on the roads out of the city and being asked for documents is normal, not a problem.
Fuel is easy to find in the city. Heading towards Sonmarg or Gurez, fill up before you leave — pumps thin out quickly once you are past the outskirts.
Day rides from Srinagar
Gulmarg is around 50 km and takes about two hours on a scooter, more if the Tangmarg road is busy. Pahalgam is roughly 90 km on better road. Sonmarg is about 80 km and the most scenic of the three.
All three are comfortable day rides. Leave early — afternoon weather in the mountains is less predictable than the morning, and you do not want to be riding the descent in rain.

About two hours for the roughly 50 km, longer on a scooter or if the Tangmarg stretch is busy. It is an easy day ride and the road is in reasonable condition throughout.
Can I rent a bike in Srinagar without a licence?
Only an electric bike. Low-speed e-bikes limited to 250 W and 25 km/h are exempt from licensing under Indian law. Every scooter and motorcycle in the fleet requires a licence with the correct motorcycle class.
